About us: | GIELE was founded by EALTA members based in Spain who were inspired by EALTA to create a similar association for language testers in Spain in order to increase assessment literacy and provide easier access to information, research and training opportunities with Spanish as the main language of communication. The aim was to establish a community in which Spanish professionals interested in language assessment and working in different contexts could be in direct contact with each other, collaborate, and share their practices without requiring expertise in English or travel to international events. GIELE’s first event, which took place in Santiago de Compostela in 2017, was partially funded with support from EALTA. GIELE holds an annual conference in a different part of Spain each year and organises online streamed webinars in which speakers from Spain and other parts of the world are invited to share their research and assessment practices. GIELE also has a website and a YouTube channel in which presentations and materials from past conferences can be accessed. |
