The Third Annual Conference of EALTA, Krakow, Poland 19th - 21st May, 2006
Sheraton Hotel, Krakow
"Bridging the gap between Theory and Practice" In the last 25 – 30 years, research in the
field of Language Testing has grown exponentially. A perennial concern,
however, is that the day-to-day practice of language testing has not
changed as quickly as our understanding of the theory of language testing.
Language testing practitioners complain that research reports are hard
to understand and often address matters that are irrelevant or at least
far removed from their daily concerns. Researchers and practitioners
seldom co-operate. We sense, however, that this climate is changing and
we think that EALTA can contribute to and perhaps accelerate the pace
of change. For the 2006 conference we are particularly interested in
the reports on work which has aimed to bridge the gap between theory
and practice in language testing and ssessment including (but not exclusively):
- Professional development in language testing
- Innovations in language
test development
- Applications of test theory in classroom assessment
- The use of
research on test results to improve already existing testing systems/operations
- Using theory to understand the effects of practical testing upon
stakeholders
Reports on progress and problems are both of interest. Call for Papers The call for papers has now opened with a deadline
of 3rd December 2005. Pre-Conference Workshops As at the last conference, there will be two 2-day pre-conference
workshops at Krakow. These will be held on 17-18 May. Enquiries All enquiries should be addressed to the
